Cold heading is a significantly faster production process when compared to machining. Die's are capable of producing hundreds of parts per minute. Scrap material is also reduced or eliminated by the cold heading process.

Products made from cold heading are also stronger than machined parts. When you machine raw material away in the machining process, the part loses some of its strength from the disruption in material grain structure. Cold heading allows for the part to retain its strength since it is merely being reconfigured.
